This master bathroom shower remodel in Spring TX fixed a leak so bad it collapsed the garage ceiling below. We demoed the failed shower, repaired the framing and subfloor, double-waterproofed the space, and built a new travertine shower that matched the rest of the bath — without replacing the existing floor, tub surround, or granite ledge. We also reused the original shower glass to save the client money.
The Leak Problem
The master bath sits over the garage. Water had been getting into the structure for a long time. By the time we were called, the garage ceiling had failed. A surface patch wouldn’t solve it. This master bathroom shower remodel needed full demo, structural repair, and waterproofing done right.
What We Did on This Master Bathroom Shower Remodel
Demo and structural repair
We removed the old shower, then fixed damaged framing and subfloor so the new shower had a solid base.

Double waterproofing — Schluter-style system plus RedGard
The client was concerned about another leak. We installed a Schluter-style system and added a full coat of RedGard. That combination keeps water in the shower instead of in the floor and ceiling below.

New niche
A recessed niche was added for bottles and soap.

Travertine matched to the existing bath
The bathroom already had travertine and a granite ledge between tub and shower. We used travertine so the new shower blended with the tub surround, ledge, and floor. The floor stayed untouched — the shower was built to fit with precision so the rest of the room didn’t need to be torn out.

Original shower glass reused
The existing glass was still good. We reinstalled it on the new shower instead of buying new glass, which kept the cost down.

Why This Approach Worked
A full gut would have meant new floors, new tub surround, new ledge, and new glass. Matching travertine, reusing the glass, and building to the existing layout gave the homeowner a watertight master bathroom shower remodel that looks like it belongs with the rest of the bath.
