Custom Bathroom Storage Cabinet and Matching Double Vanity
A bathroom needed real storage, but the room did not have space to waste. One of our design partners called us in to solve it. The bathroom had already been demoed, and the old walled closet was gone. That opened the door to something better than a closet: a built-in storage cabinet and a double vanity designed as one set, for a home in Cypress, TX.

What we built

The storage cabinet. It has 7 drawers, with space for a hamper on the bottom left. A maple countertop sits on top, and above it a tall cabinet with shelves holds the towels and everything else the bathroom needs.
The doors. The client wanted a basic shaker door, painted white. We build a slightly modified shaker with a slight bevel, which helps keep the paint from chipping. The side panels match the door profile, so the cabinet looks finished from every angle.
The nested drawer. One drawer has a second drawer inside it. Open the main drawer all the way, then push the inner drawer back into the cabinet to reach the bottom of the main drawer. It makes the most of the space, especially for small items. We put this detail in a lot of our cabinets. See another one in this Spring kitchen remodel.

The double vanity. We built a double sink vanity to match the storage cabinet. It runs from the wall to the shower and fills the whole space with no filler strips or trim pieces. It has three large drawers for extra storage and a dedicated area for the client to do makeup. More on how we build these: custom bathroom vanities.
Why custom instead of store-bought
A store-bought cabinet comes in set sizes. This room had a specific opening from the wall to the shower, and a store vanity would have left gaps that need filler strips. Building to the opening lets the vanity fill the space.
Store-bought also means taking the drawer layout the catalog offers. Here the drawers were planned around how the room gets used: a spot for the hamper, a tall cabinet for towels, a nested drawer for small things, and a makeup area at the vanity. Building both pieces in the same shop also meant the storage cabinet and the vanity match.
