A lot of kitchens in this area still have original builder doors — oak, raised panel, or older white finishes — on boxes that are fine. Replacing the doors is often the simpler path. If the boxes themselves need to go, we will point you toward new cabinets instead.

A lot of people price this out on wholesale sites that ship cabinet doors for DIY. That can work if the measurements are perfect, the overlay and hinge boring are right, and someone in the house is comfortable hanging a full kitchen of doors.

Most of the time the website quote is doors in a box. It is not measuring, hinges, pulls, and install.

We will look at that quote. If we can beat it on the same doors — or get you to a finished kitchen for less than the website plus the extras you still have to buy — we will say so. If the website is actually cheaper for a straight door-only order and you want to hang them yourself, we will say that too.

What you get here that the shipment does not include:

Popular door styles

These photos are actual doors we hang, unfinished so you can see the profile. They are a small sample, not the catalog.

We can get 200+ wood door styles and about 10 glass inserts. We do not put 200 doors on your table. We look at the house and bring 3 to 6 that will look right with the boxes, the trim, and how you use the room.

• Painted white shaker — the most requested style in this area. Clean profile that works with many existing countertops.
• Painted greige or warm gray shaker — same shaker profile with a softer color than bright white.
• Painted navy or black shaker — often used on an island or a single run of cabinets, sometimes on the full kitchen.
• Slim shaker — a thinner rail and stile than a standard shaker. A little more current without going fully flat.
• Beaded shaker — a more traditional shaker. A good fit for older homes in Klein and The Woodlands.
• Stained maple or oak shaker — wood grain instead of paint.
• Slab / flat panel — no profile. A modern look that works best when the cabinets are flat and the gaps can be set cleanly.
• Raised panel — traditional. Still the right choice on some homes.
• Glass or mullion doors — usually a few upper cabinets, not the entire kitchen.
• Matching drawer fronts — drawer fronts built to match the door profile.
• Two-tone kitchens — one finish on the perimeter and another on the island. The door profiles should match.
• Hardware on a finished door — so you can see how a knob or pull sits on the style you picked.

Materials that hold up in Houston

Humidity matters here.

• Painted maple or high-grade MDF — the usual choice for painted shaker doors. Stable and takes paint well.
• Hardwood such as maple, oak, or cherry — typical for stained doors. Wood will move a little with the seasons. That is expected.

Knobs and pulls — we bring the boards with us

Hardware is part of the door job, not something to order later and hope it matches.

We bring Jeffrey Alexander Elements sample boards to your kitchen. You can look at knobs, bar pulls, and cup pulls in finishes such as polished nickel, brushed gold, matte black, bronze, and chrome — against your cabinets, counters, and lighting.

On a typical door replacement we:

• Match hardware to the faucet and appliances you plan to keep, or choose a new finish on purpose
• Size pulls to the drawer width so they look balanced
• Use knobs or pulls where they make sense for each door and drawer
• Replace worn hinges when the new doors go on

You do not have to pick hardware from a website. The boards come to the house, you choose what you like, and that hardware is installed with the doors.

Hinges and slides

Most of this work uses concealed European soft-close hinges so the doors can be adjusted after they are hung. Some traditional cabinets look better with a visible hinge. The hinge guide covers the differences.

Drawer fronts should get slides that fit the cabinet — full-extension and soft-close when the boxes allow it. See drawer slides.

How the process works

• We look at the kitchen and check the boxes first.
• We measure the openings. Face-frame builder cabinets and frameless cabinets take different doors.
• You choose the door style and finish. Hardware is selected in the kitchen from the Jeffrey Alexander boards we bring.
• Doors and drawer fronts are built or ordered.
• The old doors come off. Boxes are cleaned and repaired if needed.
• New doors, drawer fronts, and hardware are installed. Hinges are adjusted so the gaps are even.

Once the doors are ready, most installs take a day or so rather than weeks. Lead time depends on finish and quantity.

Honest limits

• We do not list per-door catalog prices on this page. Every kitchen measures differently.
• We will not put new doors on boxes that need to be replaced.
• If doors are enough, we will say so. If you need new cabinets, we will say that too.
